so i cheated on my boyfriend last night
I know, I know. How could I do that to him? And on Valentines Day of all days?!?! But I heard the siren call of open bar at The Delancey and all my friends were going. So I was all “peace out, home slice.” Sorry, baby, but I had to hang out with […]

a bed time story with milk and cookies
Confession. I like to read cookbooks in bed. But not just any cookbook. I like to read Nigella Lawson’s How to Eat–her ode to cooking and consuming. It’s really the perfect lullaby. You can feel Nigella soothe you to sleep with her stories on how to cook the perfect roast chicken or bernaise […]

don’t tell mom the babysitter’s eating the leftover meatballs
Ilana forwarded me this NY Times article about a woman who went to our alma mater back in the sixties and made extra money in college by babysitting. And through babysitting she discovered the joys of raiding her employer’s fridge. Something I fondly remember exploiting as well. I think the most memorable family I […]

match.com should change its slogan from “it’s okay to look” to “look with caution”
So all my girlfriends who did Match.com came out severely traumatized. One friend met a guy on Match who seemed normal and nice and ended up being in a relationship with him. Then his true colors eventually came out. She now refers to him as 666. My other friend calls her Match guy “Bi-polar pyscho” […]

do i have a drinking problem or do i just act like every other twenty-something new yorker who uses alcohol to fill the hole in their soul?
New Yorkers are always joking that they have a drinking problem. This is because we all have drinking problems. I mean, why bother shelling out 25 bucks for a museum or 50 bucks for a play when you can buy 2-for-1 martinis at your local bar? Not only is it more economical but you […]

I’m siiiiick. I rolled into work today at like 10:30. I would have called in sick but the last time I did that my boss said single people shouldn’t get sick because they don’t have anyone to take care of. Ummmkay, I thought single people were the first ones to die of heart […]

LOST is the only man in my life and unlike the previous men in my life he actually lasts for an hour
Okay, less than an hour if you don’t count commercials. Anyway, there’s a funny posting on Jezebel.com comparing a viewer’s relationship with the tv show Lost to being in an abusive relationship.
According to The National Domestic Violence Hotline, you may be in an emotionally abusive relationship if your partner (in this case, the […]

in which i channel daily kos for a day
Yeah, yeah, don’t worry I’m not one of those bloggers standing on a soap box today and exhorting you to go out and vote. Hell, I can’t even vote because I’m not a citizen. But sometimes the non-citizens of this country can offer the most insightful and provocative observations of this country. Like Tocqueville or Bernard […]
