I’ve always wanted to become an expert in something. And now I’ve found my niche: hangover cures!

When you’ve shown up to work hungover–or in some cases still drunk–as much as I used to (cough) you learn how to quell the hangover beast. You know the kind. The hangover beast that refuses to be pacified with just two advils and a pack of an emergen-C. The hangover beast so pernicious it follows you to work and runs around in your stomach until you make so many trips to the bathroom that your co-workers give you a look that says “I can’t believe that loser is hungover again”. The hangover beast that refuses to be tamed!!!!

Until now…

While I can’t guarantee that these meals will help your synapses fire normally, I can assure you that they will at least keep your stomach happy. And help you keep your job…for now.

1. Korean Spicy Stew at Kom Tang
I don’t know what it says about the Korean people that we have so many good hangover cures, but there is a Korean stew that is the perfect post-drinking remedy. The key to getting over your hangover is to sweat out the toxins. The Yuk Gae Jang will have you sweating like illegal immigrants running away from Tancredo.

2. Mac and Cheese from S’mac
Carbs. Cheese. They don’t call it comfort food for a reason!

3. Miso Ramen from Minca
The salty broth soothes your sore throat after a night of yelling at bouncers (not that I do that…anymore). Big sweat factor here too. And the noodles are just how I like’m…firm and long.

4.Spaghetti and meatballs from Le Zie
What better way to dismiss those suicidal thoughts than with a hearty Italian meal? Mama mia!

5. Cuban sandwich from Cafecito
Sometimes you just want garlicky, greasy, porky goodness. Also get a side of yuca fries to further bathe your stomach in oil. Afterwards, don’t be surprised if no one wants to be near you.
185 Avenue C/ 11th street

6. Steak Sandwich and fries at Bar Marche
Thick slices of steak on a toasted baguette. And fries with fresh herbs. You don’t even need to be hungover to enjoy this!
14 Spring Street/ Elizabeth

7. Cheeseburger at Rosewater
If you don’t live in Park Slope and can survive a subway trek on a tremulous stomach, then this burger on challah bread is so worth it.
787 Union Street nr. sixth avenue

9. Biscuits and Gravy at Relish
It’s as if Paula Deen cooked you up a hangover helper, y’all.
225 Wythe Avenue, N. 3rd street

10. Biscuits and Gravy at Home
The equation is simple. Biscuits + Gravy = Hangover Helper Fabulosity
20 Cornelia Street/ W. 4th street

And then there are perennial favorites: Chipotle burritos, Two boots pizza, and san loco tacos.

Do you have any hangover helper meals?
