Look, Facebook alone isn’t going to help you fill that void in your soul. You need to go to happy hour. At least at happy hour you’ll be interacting with three dimensional people and not poking college girls at two in the morning. So here are my picks for best happy hour places in the city.

1. Three Steps
(second ave bet. 18th and 19th)
This bar is located in that weird area that’s not really Gramercy or Murray Hill or the East Village. It’s Stuyvesant Town. They have $4 martinis until 9 P.M.. You can bring pizza from Posto next door. The clientele is a mix of NYU med students, Murray Hill guys in baseball caps, and even model Maggie Rizer has been spotted here.

2. Sapa
(24th street bet. 5/6 ave)
Hands down one of the best happy hour deals in the city. This place has dollar oysters and $5 potent martinis until 7:30 P.M. Many crazy nights have started at Sapa. You will end up blacking out, going home with a stranger, or both. I highly recommend this place.

3. Yuca
(corner of 7th street and avenue a)
$5 margaritas and mojitos until 8 P.M. Sit by the window and watch the denizens of the East Village walk by. Order a plate of the mushroom quesadillas and a couple of mojitos and you’re good to go. And by good to go I mean you’ll be making inappropriate advances at your friends.

4. Hi-Fi
(avenue a bet. 10th and 11th)
2-for-1 drinks until 8 P.M. Not as crowded as it used to be so you have a good chance of scoring your own booth. They tend to play the music really loud so it’s a good place to take someone you don’t feel like listening to.

5. Verlaine
(essex and rivington)
If you love throngs of Asian girls, you’ll love Verlaine. If you love $4 lychee martinis until 10 P.M., you’ll love Verlaine. If you love feeling like death the next day, you’ll love Verlaine.

6. Paladar
(ludlow and stanton)
Half price drinks until 7 P.M. I don’t know what they put in their mojitos (crack) but they will have you dancing on the ceiling like Lionel Richie.

7. Bua
(st.marks bet. ave a and 1st)
Half priced drinks until 8 and they’re right across the street from Crif Dogs. Need I say more?

8. La Palapa
(st. marks and near 1st ave)
2-for-1 margaritas until 7 at the bar. I don’t know why I don’t come to this place more often. The ginger margaritas are awesome and the sangria comes in your own little mini pitcher. How cute is that?
