Last night I went to Allison Schulnik’s art opening in Chelsea. My friend Ally is friends with her from college and told me about the show. And it’s amazing. AMAZING. There is nothing more humbling than standing in front of a beautiful work of art. You end up asking profound questions like “So how long did it take you to make that?” and “How do you know what colors to use?”

Here are some of my faves. Pictures don’t do them justice–you have to see them up close.

Oh, and the best part about art openings? Free booze! You can just hop from gallery to gallery and soak up the wine. I mean–art.

In my early 20s, I used to go club hopping. Now I go gallery hopping. It’s so much better–you don’t spend any money and you’re in bed by midnight.

And while I’m pimpin people, I should also mention that Jack’s band Sam Champion has a new album. If you like Pavement, you’ll like Sam Champion. And although I’m a hip hop girl at heart, I actually found myself humming along to their tunes and bopping my head. So for whatever that’s worth, you should buy their album.

You can listen to them here.

I think it’s so amazing that there are people out there who actually create things to make life alot better. Whether it’s art or music or writing. They are actually making contributions for a more beautiful world. And that’s admirable. And worthy.

I could really go for a burger right now.
