funny coincidences that have occurred in past month
1. I met a fellow blogger who lives in Philly. Not so much a weird coincidence but I recently ended a relationship w/a boy who lives there. I miss the city and the chicken fingers from The Good Dog and the cheap beer at Mcglincheys.
2. My girlfriends were at a concert and saw my friend P (who I’m not really friends with anymore.) My girlfriend was gonna go up to him and say hello but decided against it since, um, we’re not really friends anymore.
3. I’ve been working on this little screenplay and I started it because I had an image of maps and ever since then I’ve been finding all these articles about cartography or museum exhibits showcasing old maps. And then I happened to be reading the obituary section in the NY Times (I was bored that day) and came across a piece about Marie Tharp, a pioneering cartogropher who did research at Columbia. I decided to name my protagonist after her.
4. Oh, and another coincidence that’s not so much a coincidence but a funny email. My friend Fab just emailed me this little tidbit. You Office fans out there might like this:
Did I tell you this girl I went to middle school with is on the Office? Do you watch that show? Well she’s the indian chick, she went to Newton country day for a year. I guess she also writes too. I wish I had her number, we’re funnier than her. At least from what I remember of her jokes in the 6th grade. I remember going to her house and eating ham & cheese subs (she was obsessed), reading her precious archie comics and watching Her Alibi w/Tom Selleck and Paulina Porizkova a gazillion times. You could so be a writer for The Office!!
Coincidence? I think not!
Have a good weekend, folks!

that’s cool about the cartographer; sometimes those things just come at the perfect time.
i’ve only seen one episode of “the office.” it was the indian episode that girl did, and i have to say, some aspects of it were dead on. it made me want to watch the show but i haven’t really gotten around to it. you should write for them.

ummm can we talk about how much i love all the food at the good dog? and i’ve spent more time at mcglinchy’s than i’d like to admit. i’m really good friends with a bartender, sarah stolfa, who worked there for 9 years before recently moving up to yale to get her masters in photography. while working at mcglinchy’s she took these amazing portraits of her regular customers (the images were just shown at bruce silverstein in chelsea). i’m really really proud of her. i hope you like them.

the office is hilarous. if only because steve carrell is freaking brilliant. you could tell him to recite the ingredients listed in a box of cereal and he’d make it funny.
and yes i’ve heard of that photographer! there was an article about her in philadelphia mag a while ago. very cool!
