In an effort to extinguish my battle with insomnia (a perennial foe that peaks his head every Sunday night), I decided to re-start my Nerve profile. Nothing helps you fall asleep easier like the knowledge that you are resorting to meeting anonymous people on the internet.

The good news is that I am no longer listed as a dude. I guess this means I won’t be receiving Nerve newsletters updating me with the six new female members that are my perfect match. No, Nerve, they are not my match because I AM NOT A MAN. The bad news is that you have to answer like seventy questions for your profile. I’m trying to write my grad school essays, I don’t have time to answer questions about what I’m looking for in a man!!! Can’t I just say that I’m looking for a bearded dude who likes LOST? Is that too narrow minded?

But some of the questions are fun to answer, like what’s your favorite sex scene from a movie? Tee-hee.

Anyway, some people ask what’s the difference between Match and Nerve and I get the sense that the Nerve guys are more downtowny, creative types and Match guys are bankers, upperwestsiders. Nerve is for people who don’t want to go above 14th street for a date so it is perfect for me.

This morning I checked my account and I had a couple of guys who sent me a message and a wink and some dude put me on his “hot list” which I don’t even know what the hell that is supposed to do but whatevs. So at least it’s good to know that this may lead to some prospects. This doesn’t guarantee that I will meet someone cool but at least it gives me more fodder for the blog. Because nothing is too private or too embarrassing to get published on the internet!

*Oh, and I watched the last ten minutes of the Emmys and I’m so happy I caught Tina Fey’s acceptance speech for Best Actress in a comedy. My favorite line: Thanks to my parents for giving me confidence disproportionate to my looks and abilities.

I’ve never really had a celebrity role model before (somehow I don’t think Britney Spears counts) but I just can’t help adoring Tina Fey. She’s whipsmart, humble, and uber talented. I want to be just like her when I grow up! Oh, wait, I’m almost thirty.

** Oh and in exciting news, my boss is letting me attend a round table discussion with some foreign policy experts so that also means I won’t be in the office for the rest of the day. Woooohooooo.
